Portfolio Critique

             My portfolio is a throwback to my fifth-grade final. When I was in the fifth-grade I had a similar art project. The project was to create a poster board for my wall that was colorful. So, for this project I tried to duplicate what I did in the fifth-grade because that’s my favorite piece of art I’ve made so far. To include my name in the project I made my background a triangle theme with lots of dark colors. I thought my project was creative because I didn’t think anyone else would have it.

                On this project I feel like I was mediocre. I don’t feel like I gave it my all. Well on the front I love the background I just feel like I half did the letters. They weren’t a straight as they should’ve been. But I couldn’t find the right angle. I was rushing because I didn’t want any homework. I can’t even explain how embarrassed I am of the back. The back was the worst art work I’ve ever done. I feel like I’m not putting in my all because this isn’t the type of art I’m into. I mean I like to draw every now and then, but I’m more into things to do with clay. If I had to rate my work id give myself a three.

                If feel like my portfolio is creative because of my color choices. I’m always one for color pop so I added an odd color to my choices of dark colors. I feel like everybody else’s projects had basic colors. I don’t feel like people us dark colors enough. Most artist are t basic. I think people should start using darker colors because art needs something new.

Art Critique on Pablo Picasso

                For my art critique I decided to do Pablo Picasso ‘’The Old Guitarist’’. I chose this picture because its different and eye catching. I’ve never seen a picture that’s so different. This painting was made in 1903. The artist in charge of this painting mostly dealt with drawing and painting. The meaning of this painting was to open the art of impression and post-impression. The paint consists of a droopy old lady holding guitar. In my opinion the old lady loos dead. I say this because her body is gray and she barley had hair.

                The dark gray color adds suspense to the painting. It makes you curious enough to learn about the painting. The dark tone is what made me pick this painting. When the artist made the old lady look old and dead it made you wonder what happened to the old lady. I like mysterious things and this painting cam off very mysterious to me.

                When the artist painted this piece of art he was trying to raise awareness to impression and post impression. I feel like he did a great job because when I saw the painting I automatically thought she was dead. When I took the time to do research on the paining I learned some cool fats. So, the dead old lady in the picture isn’t dead she’s sleep. She’s also the artiste’s grandmother.

                Overall, I feel like this was a great painting. I usually hate a lot of paintings, because I feel like a lot of artist are basic. This artist in my opinion stepped outside the box and created a wonderful piece of art. The artist chose a great color pattern.
